new hip Tops on Ourstage.com

Getting the word out about the new hip is an ongoing adventure. (So much groove, so little time!) Ourstage.com was a fun stop on our mission. Bands put up tracks, music buffs listen and vote for their faves. In May, after some encouragement from our pal Trisha Tubbs, we dipped our toe in by submitting “Stop Drop and Wiggle”. But what category is it? Since they didn’t have sophisticatedhardgroovingacousticinstumentalwithitsbluegrassrootsshowing, we settled for the Newport Jazz Festival Channel. We thought our chances were slim, but hey!

Pretty soon we were in the top ten and by the end of May we topped out at the number one slot. Nice. This gets us in front of the legendary Newport Jazz Festival people, and gives them a chance to hear things the new hip way. Plus a whole bunch of new people became fans.

So, June rolls around and we look at our basket of tracks, and we decide to go out on another limb and put Fingernail Moon up on the Newport Folk Festival Channel. Jazz, folk, they don’t usually rub shoulders, but 4 weeks later we finished out in the Top Ten, and now the people who put together the Newport Folk Festival will be giving us a listen.

So thank you, Ourstage! And thanks to everybody who voted for us. We all feel like Sally Field on Oscar night.
